We create special homes.

Our clients have a deep passion for architecture.

They know it is an art form and much more than simply building design.

VODKA PALACE

Hidden in an affluent coastal suburb is Vodka Palace, a luxurious concrete cave tempered with natural timber finishes and primed for premium culinary, audio and visual pleasure. It is the result of a very strong collaborative process between client, architect and builder.

A close friend and unique paradoxical individual, the client is one part reclusive and one part party queen. She desired the seclusion and ethereal quality of a cave to escape into, yet at the same time the ability to invite the world in and entertain guests, friends and family in style at a moments notice.
"My home feels like a warm, secure, loving embrace from a strong muscular man."
The choice of off form concrete resonates with its coastal location by reflecting the strong brutalist forms of kiosks and amenities typical to many local beaches.

The grounding coolness of concrete warmed by timber finishes, a neutral colour palette and a considered play of light create a moody mix that evokes a serene, Zen experience. Augmenting this is the use of the ancient Japanese technique of charring timber known as ‘Shou Sugi Ban’ on the timber clad columns and timber privacy screens, as well as a Teppenyaki Bar on the rear entertainment deck nestled in a native bush setting.

STEALTH SHACK

YALLINGUP
Picture
A modernist holiday shack lays stealthily among a grove of peppermint trees in the idyllic hinterland of Yallingup silently waiting. Facing almost directly due north it effortlessly siphons in desired winter light through the large expanses of double glazing to warm the interior naturally.

Featuring 3 seasonal courtyards the home seamlessly adapts to different climatic conditions depending on the required activity, sun court in winter, covered court in summer and during rain and rear covered court to provide protection from the achingly strong summer sun and draw in views of the southern landscape.

Bunk alcoves and deep recessed window seats feature in each of the 3 minor bedrooms expanding the capacity to a potential of 14 occupants and providing privacy for guests to recline in comfort for an activity of their choice whilst taking in the bush-land views.
